FAQs About Premier
1. How much will it cost to have my taxes completed and filed?
For Premier to complete and file your return the cost of preparing your tax return will increase based on your filing status, and related financial situations that increase the complexity of your return. Examples of items that make the return more complicated are things like filing status, Itemizing Deductions, the sale of stocks resulting in Capital Gains/Losses, self-employment, and changing residences during the year. Individual 1040s for the 2023 Tax Year begin at $125 while Business tax preparation starts at $275. Premier will provide a free quote with no obligation to proceed.
2. How soon will I get my refund if you file my taxes?
How soon you get your refund depends on when and how your return was filed. You will get it the quickest if the return is accurate, mistake-free, and filed electronically with the refund being set up as direct deposit directly into your bank account. If this describes your return the IRS usually issues refunds in fewer than 21 days. (Paper Returns take two months or more especially if you request a paper check). Premier recommends electronic filing and helps make sure it is accurate and mistake-free to provide the best opportunity for a quick refund. If your return includes an earned income tax credit, additional child tax credit, or a form 8379 Injured Spouse Allocation the IRS warns that your refund could be delayed.
Once the return is filed you will be able to check on the status of your refund by using the IRS’s “Where’s My Refund? tool “. To determine the status, you will need your Social Security number, filing status (single, married filing jointly, etc.) along with the exact dollar amount of your expected refund. You need to wait 24 hours after e-filing or four weeks after mailing the return to have a status available when you use the “Where’s My Refund? tool”.
3. Will I be able to deduct the tax preparation fee from my taxes?
Tax preparation fees are considered miscellaneous expenses and are no longer deductible for most taxpayers. There are cases where a self-employed individual can still deduct tax preparation fees.
4. What do I need to bring to Premier to have an estimate of the cost to prepare my taxes?
It is important to bring all the documents establishing income and deductions, this is critical to ensure that the estimate will be accurate and that the taxes will be done properly. Be sure to bring a copy of your most recent tax return. Be sure to include all documents you have such as all W-2s, Forms 1098s, 1099s, Schedules K-1s, K-3s receipts to prove all deductions, real estate tax documents, and ID information (Driver’s license or State ID card, SS card, etc.) Premier will provide a free quote with no obligation to proceed with the filing.
